The Best Time

I love, love, love this time of year. I can feel the hot days of summer waning and the cool breezes moving in. I can't wait to step out of bed in the morning and go right out my bedroom french doors and feel the crisp coolness of an autumn morning. I wander through the yard, feeding the fish in my little pond, pulling up a weed here and there, and watch my little yorkie poo run through the dewy grass! That is my favorite part of the day. I can hardly bring myself to go back in the house and get ready for work.

In the evenings, I like to sit on the back deck with my family, friends and neighbors and a glass of wine. We listen to the crickets and the tree frogs who almost sound relieved at the coolness of the air. As the days of summer pass and autumn moves in, it seems as if we can sit right there on the deck and watch the leaves change from lush greens to brilliant reds, oranges and yellows. Life doesn't get any sweeter than that!

I don't know what it is about my heart and Fall, but I feel an anticipation and expectancy inside every year as summer draws to a close. Its like a warm rush of familiar energy. For so many people, it's the Springtime that awakens these feelings in them...but not me! It just seems as though the crispness of the cool air breathes a clean freshness into life that the steamy heat of summer has made stale.

I am really looking forward to watching the trees change color this year. I plan to take a lot of pictures so that I can look at them all year long. I'm going to take long walks and spend a lot of time visiting with God. His creations and the changing of the seasons are truly wonderful to behold.
