"God is too big to take residence in us and not produce results...is there evidence of a changed life? Is there evidence that Christ, the Creator, has taken residence in us?" ~ Michael Booth
This quote was sent to me in an email. It had nothing to do with what the email was about; it was just tacked on at the end of the correspondence. So when I got to the quote, it startled me. I quickly forgot about the purpose of the email and began to meditate on the words of the quote. It's a powerful statement and I did an immediate assesment of what my life looks like.
Is there evidence to the people I know, and even to those I don't know, but who see me out and about, that the God of love, grace, forgiveness, peace and life, lives in me? If you were to ask my kids, my friends, my co-workers, the check out lady at the grocery store, the bank teller, what's important to me, what would they say? Would they say, "All she cares about is _____!" or "The only thing she talks about is _____!" or "She is so rude!" or "She doesn't even know I exist!" Just how would they describe me? What would the verdict on my life be, from the evidence presented?
Father, I pray that You are written all over me; that your words come out of my mouth, your love shines from my eyes and my hands touch with your gentleness and compassion. I ask that each day, as I spend time with You, You fill me up with your presence so that it spills out on those I come in contact with. Let there be evidence of You in my life so that others might be drawn to You. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
From His Lap,
My heart's desire is for you to realize how valuable and precious you are, to know that you are a dream of God come true. While raising six children, I have had to depend on the Lord to give me certain nuggets of truth and insights into being a child of God. I would love to share these nuggets with you, hopefully bringing you closer to Him and a life filled with joy and peace.
LOVE this!! As always, wonderful words.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kristin! You are always so encouraging and uplifting. I'm so glad you came by!

"Is there evidence to the people I know, and even to those I don't know, but who see me out and about, that the God of love, grace, forgiveness, peace and life, lives in me?" I used to think so, however these days, I'm not so sure about that. I think people see what they want to see, and for me, most are seeing evil...~Hugs, M

Wow what a statement, what a question. After a crabby, argumentative, selfish day like today, with the conviction of the Holy Spirit weighing heavily on me, I'm afraid to ask! But isn't that the power of such a statement, it shakes things up a bit and makes room for Jesus to work! Thanks for sharing and holding up truth!
ReplyDeleteBeck,
ReplyDeleteI had a rather crabby day myself & unfortunately it was with ones I love. Made me sad that they couldn't find any evidence in me!
Blessings,
~Erin
