A Love Revealer

Our pastor says that we are to be love revealers of a love God!  How wonderful to know that we serve a God who celebrates us, sings over us, who is after our hearts.  He is so enamored with us that we are worth Jesus to Him.  What always stops me dead in my tracks is that He feels that way about me, knowing all of my faults and shortcomings.  He even knows the sins in my life that others can't see; impatience, bitterness, worry...and yet, He still sees me just the way He created me...in His image.

Is it possible then, that I could demonstrate and extend that kind of love too?  Is it conceivable that I could reveal God's nature in such a way that I could write on other's hearts the way He's written on mine?  You know, it's easy to love the lovely.  There is not much challenge or glory there.  Where the rub comes in, is loving the not so lovely; the ones who have let us down, gossiped about us, hurt our feelings, etc.  This is when we should remember to see them through God's eyes, just as He sees us!  This is when we must remind ourselves that they too, are worth Jesus to God.  They are created in His image and He wants to write on their hearts, just as He has written on ours.

Oh, to walk every day, concsious of the fact that my words and actions can reveal a love God; to show others the same love You have shown me.  I pray that in my quiet times, in my communion with You, Lord, I become smaller and You becomes bigger in me.  I seek to take on more of Your nature and shed my human nature until I can celebrate and become enamored by others just like You celebrate me!  Let me become so immersed in You, Lord, that when others come my way, they see You and not me.  I pray that each  day, I'm a love revealer of a love God.

From His Lap,

  1. I pray too that I may be a revealer of God's love: that I might decrease and He might increase and take over my heart, words and actions. I loved this post.

  2. Hi Erin - this is beautiful. There are those who have hurt us and when you move from anger to forgiveness and then to praying for them, it is amazing how you start to see them differently. Only God can do that. i also want people to see God in me and not my own selfishness.
    God bless

  7. That's a prayer God readily desires to answer. I'm finding though that to love like God seems to require a broken heart of humility. At first I was resistant but now I see the freedom of brokenness and the power of a humble love. Thanks for sharing your heart!

  9. Hi Erin,
This is a very inspiring and encouraging post.....The two elements of showing others God's love and letting God increase in us seem to go hand in hand....I do think that as God grows us to become more like Him we are able to love others more with His love.....

I too strive for Him to take over my heart and fill me until I can love others unconditionally like He does.....

I pray your coming week is filled with abundant blessings,

    Hugs and blessings,
    Nancy

  10. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement, Nancy! If more of us can love like He does, more will come to know Him and love Him!

  11. This is wonderful, encouraging, comforting. I struggle with how to show God's presence to those around me to who struggle with their own faith. It's good to be reminded that showing someone compassion and allowing God to be present within us for them may draw them nearer to our own love of Christ. <3

  13. Kristin,
As God increases in us and we decrease, others can't help but see Him! It takes a lot of pressure off of trying to be perfect!!
