The Winds of Change

I'm sitting on my front porch, chillaxin to the sound of my fountain and windchimes.  The birds are  pecking away at the birdfeeder over my head and my little yorkie poo, Roxie, is curled in a ball on my lap.  My men have gone fishing so I have some much needed quiet time to myself.

I can always tell when the winds of change are about to blow in my life.  It's nothing I can put my finger on, but it's a gentle air of expectancy and a little sense of anticiaption that just starts to stir in my soul.  I know it's coming, but I don't know what it is.  I don't fear it.  As a matter of fact, I look forward to it.

Do you ever feel that way?  Do you get a "knowing" that you are about to embark on a new journey?  When we fulfilll God's plans and purposes for our lives, it's the sweetest feeling we can have.  That's why I love these peaceful quiet times by myself.  I sit and daydream and wonder and pray.  "Lord, what do you have in store for me?  What plan am I getting ready to walk out?  What purpose in your Kingdom am I about to fulfill?"

I'm at that place right now.  I don't know what it is, but when I do, I'll let you know!  Just as I wrote these words, a cool breeze blew through and my windchimes gently played me a song.  It was like God was answering me!  I can't wait!!  What is God doing in your life?

From His lap!

  1. Amen, Erin. The winds of change recently went through our lives, too, and it is exciting! We pray every Christian would be still and sense the Holy Spirit speaking to our spirits. It does take that quiet to hear and sense Him.

  2. Windchimes are so soothing; they always warn me when storms are coming. Sounds almost like a metaphor.

  3. I never know when a change is going to happen and I am quite pleased to not know. Some are very harmful, some are sweet but they are all exciting to experience without any knowledge of "a change is coming," I am the lucky one to always be surprised. My world has often brought great tragedy and trauma but I have weathered it all with dignity and grace. No, don't tell me what is coming! I want to be surprised, this time it is going to be pleasant.

  8. It is so wonderful to sense the change coming so you do have time to pray and prepare yourself. Often times it is unexpected and your life changes in a whirlwind. Enjoy this time with him )

  10. Thanks for sharing your link with me on Twitter yesterday Erin, I enjoyed reading this.

Your writing is very descriptive and peaceful .. I could almost imagine being there.

There is nothing as moving as listening to silence when wind chimes, birds and even busy bees remind you, you're not alone.

Interesting: I have a badge on my blog that I share also: "Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself".

  14. I knew I liked you. And, you're in Oklahoma, land of my people. I thought I knew what God's plan was for me, but apparently he had other ideas. What I thought was God's will was possibly spiritual gradiosity, or the failure in that endeavor was part of God's plan in a design that is too large for me to comprehend. My world was turned upside down and I was spun around multiple times in the past 3 years and particularly past year. I do feel the new path I've been placed on is starting to become more clear and I am feeling an occasional breeze of anticipation and sense of coming out on the other side of a tunnel. Amazing how our lives can shift so drastically when we think we have it all mapped out. I'm assuming it is all part of God's plan, because it certainly wasn't my plan : ) I love that feeling of anticipation.

  15. It's exciting, isn't it, Janice! I have gone through seasons in my life where it was turned upside down...maybe not God's plan for me, but He made into something good...something sweet. I wish you all the best in this new journey you are on!
