There You Are vs Here I Am!

My pastor says that when we meet people, we should have the "There you are" attitude instead of "Here I am". I have been trying to live this way for the past 5 or 6 years and I can't tell you how much of a difference it has made in my life. When I meet someone new or get together with an old friend, I ask myself, "I wonder what God is up to in their life?" I dare not think that I am bringing Him on the scene for them. I used to think that I had to be responsible for Him showing up in the lives of the people around me. How arrogant is that!

God is always at work in people's lives. They may not realize that He is, but that doesn't mean that He isn't. People attribute the good in there lives to alot of things ie. hard work, good luck, coincidence, karma... But the Word of God says that ALL good comes from Him. Maybe if we would ask people, "What is God doing in your life?" it would cause them to rethink where the good is coming from and they would recognize the hand of God at work all around them.

If we approach others ready to celebrate them and the good in their lives, He will be glorified each and everytime. That is our purpose for being here afterall, isn't it...to glorify Him?!?!?!

  1. Wow. That's good to think on. I'm going to remind myself to have more of the "There You Are!" attitude. I don't think I've done well at it! LOL

Thank you. This is wisdom I needed to hear.
